The Ideal Candidate

  • Technical Background: 3–5 years of hands-on experience in an infrastructure or hardware support role.
  • Core Tech: Practical experience with Hypervisors, Virtual Machines, and server hardware is essential.
  • Networking: A solid understanding of physical network troubleshooting and rack management.
  • Travel Ready: The role involves project-based travel to global sites. While you may be UK-based for extended periods, you must be ready to travel for concurrent deployments or hardware refreshes when the project cycle demands it. Up to 10% Travel.
  • Flexibility: Comfortable working non-standard hours when necessary to match global time zones.

Who We Are Looking For

  • A "Number Two" Mindset: You can take a plan developed by management and execute it independently with precision.
  • Problem Solving: You have a high "learning aptitude" and can figure out unfamiliar hardware or complex issues without constant supervision.
  • Initiative: You are self-motivated and stay productive even when your manager is remote or traveling.
  • Communication: You provide clear updates to ensure management always knows the status of a project, no matter where you are in the world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Escalation Lead: Serve as the "Level 2/3" expert. When the helpdesk faces a complex, non-routine hardware or software issue, you are the problem solver who steps in to fix it.
  • Infrastructure Execution: Get hands-on with the physical layer. You will support the installation, cabling, and racking of servers, switches, and power (UPS) hardware at global sites.
  • Systems & Virtualization Support: Maintain the health of our virtual environment. You will support the lifecycle of Virtual Machines (VMs) and ensure our Hyper-V platforms are running smoothly.
  • Telephony & Comms: Assist in the setup and troubleshooting of company PBX and VoIP systems to keep our global teams communicating effectively.
  • Global Field Projects (International Travel): Be the face of IT on the ground. You will travel internationally (approx. 10%) to execute infrastructure projects, manage new office setups, and handle site expansions.
  • Operational Continuity: Execute critical system maintenance to ensure zero business disruption. (Note: This occasionally requires flexible hours during off-peak windows).
  • Asset Coordination: Work with the Manager to track global hardware lifecycles. You will help maintain the pristine documentation and organization of our server room environments.
