Finance Assistant
Job Description
We are currently looking for an Finance Assistant to join our Finance department at our Headquarters in Steeton (West Yorkshire, UK).
Reporting to the Cash Book Supervisor, the main responsibility of this position is to ensure that payments and receipts are managed efficiently, accurately, and in a timely manner.
Salary: £23,000 - £26,000 (DOE)
Standard Hours: Monday to Friday 37.5 hours

The Ideal Candidate
- 2 years’ experience in a Finance role
- Strong Excel skills essential – pivot tables, VLOOKUP's, filtering and working with large datasets
- Keen eye for detail and accuracy
- Ability to work to strict deadlines
- Experience of SAP beneficial but not essential as full training is given
Key Responsibilities
- Handle payments and receipts for a multinational group of companies, managing transactions across multiple currencies. Including banking cash and cheques, processing supplier payments, issuing customer refunds and reward vouchers, and overseeing Direct Debit collections.
- Handle the processing of expense claims and the management of petty cash funds.
- reconcile and code credit card returns.
- Perform regular reconciliation of bank statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct general administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, handling telephone calls, and managing emails.
- Provide analytical support to the Supervisor and Financial Controller, including basic cash flow reporting and forecasting.
- Assist in other finance functions as needed to cover for holidays and sickness.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Month end close completed within 3 days
- Key transactions processed next business day
- Refunds issued within 48 hours
